Craig N. Johnson

Craig N. Johnson is an Advisory Director and a former Managing Director of Glenthorne Capital, Inc.

Mr. Johnson joined Glenthorne Capital in 1994 with thirteen years of executive experience in the shipping industry. Between 1979 and 1989, Mr. Johnson served as President and later CEO of Lavino Shipping Company, a Philadelphia-based maritime services company. Mr. Johnson was a principal in the leveraged buyout group that purchased and subsequently sold Lavino. In 1990, Mr. Johnson became President and COO of Maritrans, Inc., a NYSE listed company that is the largest independent marine transporter of petroleum products in the U.S.

Prior to entering the transportation business, Mr. Johnson spent ten years in management consulting and staff positions focused on business strategy, corporate development, marketing strategy and organizational development practices. He consulted with numerous clients in the industrial, consumer and financial product and services areas. Mr. Johnson was associated with Hay Associates, William E. Hill & Company and INA Corporation.

Mr. Johnson brings hands-on experience with strategic decision-making and management implementation at middle-market companies. In management positions and as a consultant, he has been directly involved in the kinds of challenges faced by companies as they grow, diversify and develop their management skills and capabilities. Mr. Johnson worked extensively in Europe and Asia in consulting and services businesses.

Lavino Shipping Company and Maritrans were formally family-owned businesses. Mr. Johnson's management responsibilities included reshaping the business mix and strategies of the businesses, modernizing and reorganizing the management to achieve more cost effectiveness. He has conducted numerous consulting and investment banking engagements for family-owned and closely held companies.

Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelors in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from The Wharton School. He is currently a director and chairman of the Blair Corporation. He is a director of The Philadelphia Contributorship, Vector Security, Inc., We Love Country, Inc., Ridgewood Investment Company, the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce, and the Academy of Natural Sciences. He was formerly a director of Lavino Shipping Company, Inc., Maritrans, Inc., Springside School and an Associate Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania.
